UNAWARE
By Dawn Harris

Swirling abyss of emptiness
Lost in a sea alone
Feeling quite inadequate
Not sure of where to go

The storm rages all around me now
Water crashes in
I am going under…
This may be my final breath

Through the screaming thunder
I hear a gentle sound
The words are simply, “Peace.  Be still.”
The storm is finally gone

What was just a giant monster
Now reflects like a mirror
Calmness surrounds me
Replacing all my fear

Who is this man before me
That even the wind obeys?
How did I not see Him before
Was I blind or just afraid?

I have known Him my whole life
I called Him my friend
How was I so unaware
Of Who He really is?

Lord, forgive me for reducing You to human understanding.
Help me to see through Your eyes.  I am so unaware!
