Silence of the Heart

Posted October 2008 in Poems, Journey Notes by Dawn Harris

In the moments of silence you hear my heart cry

More than words could ever say

I am afraid to wake up and watch this dream slowly fade away

I have dreamed of this moment for so long

Forgotten how to live life on my own

Surrounded by people I play the role, but lost and all alone

I’ve prayed for the answers and held tight to His hand

Not willing to give up; unable to stand

The chaos was blinding, the silence brought pain

Yet ‘peace in midst’ was all I could claim…

He promised to never leave or forsake

But never promised an easy road

Yet He knew the heart that He had made couldn’t make it on its own

Because He loves us so dearly

He heard what our words could not say

He brought us here for this moment and is giving His peace all the way

Though the journey is far from over

And I may never speak the right words

You know what my heart is whispering…

As it rests safely in yours
