Step Into the Water

When God led Moses and the Israelites through the Red Sea, Moses lifted his staff, the water parted, and they crossed on dry ground.  (Exodus 14:16; 21-22)

However when Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan River things changed.  This time God instructed the priests to step into the water THEN the water parted. (Joshua 3:8; 14-17)

Our family is feeling this Scripture applies to where God is leading us on our journey.

In the past when God spoke to our hearts about something, we prayed, He parted the water and we walked through.  It is easy to walk on dry ground.

However this time, God has spoken to our hearts and asked us to step into the water. My immediate response is, “But, God, I am not a priest!”  It is scary to step out and have no idea how God is going to part the water.

I believe God can do anything.  I believe He is in control of our future.  I know what He has spoken to our hearts.  Yet, I am walking out into the unknown, unsure of the details.

I am a detail person!  I like to know the next several steps, plan out a route and head for the goal.

This time God is asking for complete trust.  No details.

I know what God has laid on my heart.  I am completely trusting Him and stepping into the water.

I believe with all my heart that THIS is the place we will build an altar to the Lord.  Just like Joshua, we will build a memorial that always reminds our family of what God is about to do in our lives.

So here I am, stepping into the water…
