Life In A Maze
LIFE IN A MAZE
by Dawn Harris
I was teaching my class Sunday about prayer and this illustration seemed to sum up what we were talking about. I will try to describe it. In our life we see where we are and where we want to be. Our brain automatically thinks, “the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.” (My geometry teacher would be so proud.)
However, God in His wisdom sees a much bigger picture of our life. He sees that to handle the next point, there are many things that we will need to learn along the way. Thus, the maze illustration is a perfect image of our life. We start at the beginning and we can see the end if we look at the “big picture.” Along the way we twist and turn and go what seems to be the opposite direction. But by staying on the right path we not only reach the goal; we are ready for it when we get there!
It is hard to live in a maze. I feel like I am going around and around and getting no where. Frustrating!
I was praying about this and God showed me these verses: (New Living Translation)
“Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe.” Proverbs 4:25-26
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9
No matter what I think, God KNOWS more than I do! I cannot see beyond today. I have plans and dreams, but I do not know what lies ahead; not really. If I learn to trust God and stay on His path, I will be safe. That is a reassuring promise.
Lord, help me to trust Your plan for my life. I want to learn to trust You. Help me to walk in the path that You have set before me and know that each step brings me closer to You. Help me to learn from this journey what I need in order to be what You have called me to be.
Thank You for loving me enough to walk with me. Help me enjoy the journey…
